The Atlantic Division added a new head coach this week when Nick Nurse took the Sixers job that was left vacant after Philadelphia fired Doc Rivers. Nurse, who won a championship with the Raptors in 2019, was fired by Toronto at the end of the 2022-23 season.
Nurse now has the opportunity to coach the 2023 NBA MVP Joel Embiid, who has been with the Sixers since he was drafted in 2014 with the No. 3 overall pick. With Philadelphia coming up short of the Eastern Conference Finals again and James Harden’s unclear future, there’s been talk about whether or not Embiid may request a trade.
